Does anyone else think that creed sold out? They were working as a christian band but went mainstream to sell more music. Which I suppose gets the 'word' out but I disagree with their tactics completely.

Where did you get your
Where did you get your information? According to what I have read about Creed, they were never a Christian band. Nevertheless, I think the choice of whether or not to classify themselves as a Christian band is a matter of personal conviction. A Christian can make music that is not specifically about God and still be a Christian. You never see adds for a "Christian Plumber" or a "Christian Architect." Why should musician be different?
Woah you guys--where are you
Woah you guys--where are you getting your information from? Creed is NOT a Christian band. Yes, some of the band members come from a Christian heritage (one of their dad's is a baptist minister), and that has reflected in some of their lyrics... but that does NOT make them a "Christian" band. In no way is their message pointing people to Christ. Their lyrics are saturated with the longings of something greater, along with all of the confusing questions one has about faith, but in no way does that make them Christian. That is just like saying Madonna is a Christian. For more info about the band, look up their website, and read their profiles. You'll see that they are not living their lives specifically for Christ (if at all), but are just regular artists, trying to make a living.
Nah, I disagree, I don't
Nah, I disagree, I don't think they sold out at all. By saying they aren't a Christian band may even help bring in some nonbelievers. I think what they do is awesome. I like that they don't preach but set an example, like P.O.D., otherwise people might not have given them the chance to reach as many people as they have. I do understand what you mean tho... kinda denying their beliefs. But they have made it VERY clear where they stand so that's cool.
Well, peace, love and prayers!
As far as I know, Creed never
As far as I know, Creed never was a "Christian band" per se. They have always sold their records on secular labels. The reason for this is likely exactly what you say; they want to sell as many records as they can. There is nothing terribly wrong with that, as long as they don't betray their faith in the process.
In reading their lyrics, as well as those of similar secular-christian acts like Lifehouse, I haven't found anything really objectionable. What is sad is that Creed has, at times, taked palpable steps to seperate themselves from their Christian reputation within the mainstream community. I once heard Scott Stapp (Is that spelled correctly?) say that Creed was not a Christian band, but a "spiritual" one. He said there were many ways to God, and Christianity is only one of them. Creed has recently recanted such heresy. It would be interesting to know whether they did so to encourage the sale of their records in the Christian market or because of a genuine change of heart, we cannot know. God knows. I pray that He will make the best of the situation, whatever it may be.
Hmmm....that's kinda long isn't it? Thanks for reading and God bless!
creed has NEVER been a
creed has NEVER been a christian band unfortunately. they do indeed have stuff from the bible in their lyrics, but they don't claim to be christians. they are "searching for a faith", but haven't found it yet. if you check out creed.net, you can actually read scott stapp's answers to questions about faith and so on. SO, they never really did sell out to christianity, since they never were a christian band. hope this helped. god bless

i agree with everyone else,
i agree with everyone else, they were never a Christian band. and while they do talk about God longing for a higher level and all that, they also took God's name in vain....." don't have to settle no Godd*** score"
You can argue that they were
You can argue that they were never a Christian band, but that is completely beside the point. They are completely sold out as musicians in general- Christian or not. They are so egotystical and have let their stardom go to their heads. They aren't in it for Jesus anymore(if they ever were) they aren't in it for the love of the music anymore, they are in it to sell their albums and tshirts so that they can feed thier egos with world recognition. I am not saying this from an ignorant standpoint, I know all about Creed...I and I have concluded that they are the most over rated band ever. I am sorry you were all brainwashed into believing that they are still a credible band. So you see the debate is not about whether or not they have sold out as Christians...It is about the messed up music scene that fives Creed recognition while completely ignoring credible rock bands who will never make it to the surface because of the messed up commercial standards set by Creed.
they are not Christians, so
they are not Christians, so what do you expect?
